(Never fully dressed) without a smile

We had lots of smiles today and various stages of undressing too. Here is Nora in her underwear and apron proudly displaying her creations of Mommy and Daddy on the fridge (you used to have my hair, Mike, but then she switched us at the last minute...wonder if Matt could interpret that for us?) and Caroline totally exuberant after successfully raising herself into a standing position along the glass wall at the library. Are they cute or what?

It was another full day; we headed over to the Ocean View library for 10:30 story hour and played for a while, then crossed the street and had a picnic lunch under the gazebo overlooking the beach. Then it was time to head back into the car and drive to Portsmouth for Caroline's 9 month check up. At 21 lbs. and 30 inches, she's on the outer edge of the growth chart and she's right on target developmentally. She's pulling up on things like mad, talking lots (bah-bah-bah and mah-mah-mah are her favorites), and getting better at using her fingers to pick up Cheerios. She also loves faces. I think I mentioned before how she reached out to touch our neighbor John's face a few days ago, and she spent a few minutes today inspecting Nora's baby doll's face as we were eating lunch. Maybe she thought was looking in a mirror, since Nora's doll looks just like her! Nora only napped for about 30 min. today on our way to Portsmouth, so by the end of the day, she was totally wired and crazy. As we were saying our goodbyes to Bernadette and Willy, who joined us for dinner, Nora proceeded to run up and down our sidewalk in her underpants holding some flower petals. It was so funny, and she was so joyful that I didn't have the heart to stop her right away. But I did eventually have to chase her down the street when it was time to come in. Whew...these girls tire me out, but I wouldn't have it any other way! We're off to Ocean City, MD tomorrow for a long weekend with my dad, Nancy, cousin Jeanne and her whole family (Cacciola/Costello clan) and return Monday night. I'll try to post Monday night if we're home by a decent hour.
